Mychael is a story-teller; part of a long
tradition of narrative arts which stretches from cave-paintings
to Goya to Chagall. Born in Canada, Mychael has settled
in London, the city he now calls home; indeed a lot of his
work features the city as backdrop or character. Painting
has lately enabled Mychael to concentrate on the visual
poetry in his work. He has recently completed a collection
of oil paintings which were exhibited in London, and his
gentle wit and technical competence shown in the printmaking
is carried through to the paintings. So accomplished is
Mychael as a printmaker that he uses slow and complicated
techniques with a lightness of touch that completely disguises
any complexity, and looks both fresh and spontaneous. He
uses the language of etching with true fluency, and like
all the best printmakers, the printed mark is essential
to his personal vision.
