Eileen grew up in Girvan and was educated at Girvan Academy. On
leaving college she became a Para-Legal assistant in a
legal establishment. Prior to marriage she was drawing
and painting with great enthusiasm, and, after bringing
up her three children, decided to re-start her painting
career. She has travelled extensively to this end,
visiting some of the finest galleries and especially enjoying
the Guggenheim and Metropolitan in New York, and watched
with great interest the artists in St Tropez. The
Jerusalem Museum is also one of her favourites. Eileen
is now based in Prestwick, and enjoys painting the West
and East Coasts of Scotland, and the many surrounding Islands. Her
work aims to capture the light and ever changing hues of
the Scottish landscape and seascapes. As well
as chairing the Ayrshire Arts Festival for three years,
Eileen is also involved with the Ayr Hospital League of
Friends and works with the Childrens Panel. In 2003,
she was a finalist (one of four hundred artists selected
from ten thousand entrants) in the ‘Not the Turner
Prize’ competition run by Associated Newspapers Ltd. Following
this, she was exhibited in the Mall Gallery in London. Eileen
has exhibited widely around the U.K, and has many works
in private collections around the world including Canada
and Germany.
