Gillian was born and brought up in Glasgow. Educated
at Laurelbank School, she was taught art by Mary Allan and
Helen Davie, both artists in their own right and inspiring
teachers for Gillian.
She attended Glasgow School of Art, where she studied Drawing
and Painting, and a further Post Graduate for which she was
commended. Gillian then taught for a number of years
in Glasgow, and continued teaching part time after she moved
to mid-Argyll in 1975 with her husband.
Gillian is inspired by the landscapes and seascapes of the
West Coast of Scotland, as well as Southern France. Her
chosen medium is Gouache, which captures light and colour fantastically
well in her paintings. Her work is now in collections
in the U.S.A, Canada, Hong-Kong, Holland, France, New Zealand
and, of course, all over the UK.
