Kate Philp is a young artist based in Berwickshire. She graduated from university with a degree in Biological Science, and went on to travel extensively around Europe, America and the Southern hemisphere, before returning to Scotland and turning her attention to her creative side.

Her subject matter is varied, featuring people, animals, landscapes and seascapes - and recently, Kate has been working on purely abstract paintings. We are delighted to be one of the very first galleries to exhibit these striking works. Much of her inspiration is drawn from the rugged Berwickshire coastline around where she lives, and the harbours, boats and sea also act as inspiration for the abstract paintings.

Working in both acrylic and watercolour medium with equal ease allows for Kate to choose either a very strong palette, or a more subtle and delicate style, but her painting is always lively, spontaneous and distinctive.
