Originally from Poland, Basia has been living in Glasgow, Scotland since 1998. She has an HND in Graphic Design and a BSC (with distinction) in Media Technology and Digital Art. Her work appears in collections around the globe; in Canada, America, Britain, France, Poland, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Ireland and Australia. Her portraiture renders the ordinary and everyday, extraordinary. Her suble blends of colour work to give her subjects an emotional intensity. She often paints scenes we may be quite familiar with - a woman with her umbrella up trudging through the wet streets of Glasgow - yet we find within the dreariness, a sense of beauty and poignancy. Her portraits of particular subjects often become windows through which we can connect emotionally with the universal experience of being human.
