We are an Edinburgh Art Gallery, established in 2003 and specialising in contemporary Scottish art, with a focus on painting and ceramics. Our exhibition calendar features inspiring and varied solo and mixed artist exhibitions, with regular meet the artist events and virtual 3D Tours. MEET THE ARTIST : LORNA SINCLAIR
Lorna Sinclair (b.1994) is a Scottish artist currently living and working in Glasgow. Graduating in Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (2017), Lorna has since exhibited work across Europe and the UK, whilst recently completing Art Residencies in Cyprus and Berlin.
It is colour that moves Lorna to paint. Using a saturated and playful palette, Lorna creates ethereal landscapes and interior spaces that are rooted in reality but reimagined and transformed through her work. Creating diverse textures through the heavy layering of oil paint, pigments and sand – Lorna depicts her sensory memories of travels to faraway dreamscapes, as well as scenes from her everyday life. Rich botanical scenes, seascapes and open windows spill from her canvases and paper and offer the viewer a feeling of spontaneity and escapism.
EMILY POWELL SOLO EXHIBITION
THE LAND BELOW THE WAVES
We are delighted to announce Emily Powell’s debut Solo Exhibition at Morningside Gallery, following her painting residency on the Isle of Tiree. The exhibition will feature her celebrated large scale floral works, alongside evocative landscapes painted on Tiree, or as it is fondly known, The Land Below the Waves. Expressive and full of the freedom that comes with painting outdoors, Emily’s work reminds us of what a joy it is to be alive.
