Growing up quite literally surrounded by ceramics, as her Mother ran a pottery, Katharina would go on to train professionally at colleges in Austria and Germany before moving to the UK in 2011 and setting up her own business.
Katharina states that her work is about the simplicity of design, shape and texture. She takes a great deal of inspiration from the elemental colours and shapes of ancient Korean pottery.
Each piece is individually thrown in porcelain with the application of pencils strokes adding a graphical simplicity to the surface designs. These hand drawn lines ensure that the work retains a spontaneous energy and any imperfections only serve to accentuate the individuality and character of each piece.
