Nikki studied at the Scottish College of Textiles and in the years since has worked as an interior stylist and designer as well as time spent working in the community arts sector. She currently lives and works from her home studio in Falkirk.
With subject matter ranging from land and seascapes to quirky, vibrant depictions of birds and figures, Nikki has a wide range of influences.Inspiration can strike at any given moment, whether it is the sensation of waking up in the morning or the crisp chill on a peaceful winter stroll.
Working from memory allows Nikki’s work to take on a stylised atmosphere. She uses bold acrylics and oil pastels, applied in a variety of ways, adding texture and depth to the surface. Colour has long been the driving force behind her compositions and through this process of amplification and abstraction, she hopes to capture and communicate the essence of any scene with the viewer.
