Born in the West Midlands, Paul began his artistic career in the early seventies sculpting in wood. He eventually went on to study ceramics at Dudley College of Art after discovering a love for the mediums of clay and wax. After graduating Paul accrued a loyal following and worked on a variety of public and commercial art projects. He continues to live and work in the West Midlands.
Paul's love for nature is a continued source of inspiration in his work. Many of his designs are a direct result of observing animals in their natural habitat. Taking approximately one week to finish a single piece, he uses a specially formulated clay which is sculpted and fired three times in a kiln, with the final firing being the process which produces the distinctive Raku finish.
