Edinburgh College of Art graduate Penelope spent 16 years in Europe before returning to live and work in her home country of Scotland. She currently resides in Dundee.
Penelope takes a great deal of inspiration from her surroundings, be they stormy Scottish Coastlines or sun kissed Moroccan vistas. She collects various sketches in the form of a visual diary and often uses these hand drawn snapshots to create larger pieces in her studio.
Working mainly in oils but also watercolour and gouache, she works quickly and often lets her memories dictate the vibrancy and energy of a scene. Using brushes, palette knives and her hands, she is equally at ease delving into abstract compositions as she is working within a more representational framework.
