Zarina Stewart-Clark

About Zarina

Suffolk based Zarina studied at Chelsea College of Art and has been working as a professional artist since her first solo exhibition in 2001.

Although her work as a painter began with delicate floral studies in watercolour, Zarina was inspired by her Scottish and Dutch ancestry to study the old masters and apply aspects of their approach and methodology to a more contemporary style of landscape painting.

Painting with a combination of egg tempera and oils allows Zarina to apply a luminous viscosity to her canvases. Seeking to explore the poetry and drama of shifting skies and the fall of light and darkness within the landscape, her confident and energetic process results in bold, expansive scenes, punctuated by bursts of light that are brimming with admiration and awe.
