La Vie En Rose | Alison McWhirter
We hope you will join us for this painterly celebration of the rose, in life and in art. La Vie En Rose, our first solo exhibition of Alison McWhirter’s paintings, brings together a series of abstract paintings alongside still lifes of roses grown in Alison’s own garden and painted from life. Roses have long been celebrated in art and music – from Shakespeare to Edith Piaf – symbolising as they do the endurance of love and the importance of beauty, not as something saccharine and frivolous, but as essential to appreciating all that is good in the world and in others. Expressive and painted from the soul, Alison’s paintings convey some of this aliveness of feeling.
ANDY CROSS : LANDLINES
We are delighted to present this beautiful exhibition of landscape and still life paintings by Andy Cross, showcasing his distinctive handling of line and colour and his considered observations of nature. Each painting quietly celebrates the natural world; whether exploring the changing seasonal light on a landscape or the rich tones of a domestic still life, subjects spring to life on the canvas. Andy’s brush seems to dance; never still for long, large gestural brushstrokes create atmosphere filled skies, thin suggestions of line delineate sky from land, and a final flick of the brush tells us all we need to know about the wildflower.
