Over the past twenty-five years, Antonio Lopez Reche has developed a distinctive body of figurative sculpture, which connects his own everyday experiences – memorable and inconsequential – to the larger narrative frameworks of myth and fable. Movement, strength and surface are central to Antonio’s work; he is particularly interested in preserving in bronze the raw qualities of clay, wax and plaster, together with the expressive marks left by his tools and the energy of loose modelling.

Touchstones: places, objects, ideas and influences to which Jack has returned throughout a lifetime of looking and painting. Venice and the sunlit towns of southern Europe; the lilypond and its shifting reflections and of course the other artists who have inspired and accompanied him. With each return – to a place, an object, a memory, an idea – arises a new opportunitity to see things differently and to deepen a connection. Jack’s touchstones remain constant, but what he discovers through them and how he communicates this continues to evolve.
