Born in Glasgow in 1949, Robert Kelsey PAI FRSA studied at Glasgow School of Art under David Donaldson, Alexander Goudie, and James Robertson. After a career in art education, he became a full-time painter in 1995. Renowned for his luminous coastal landscapes, Robert’s work captures the interplay of light and colour, transforming Scotland’s West Coast and Hebridean Islands into radiant, atmospheric compositions. Influenced by the Scottish Colourists, his vibrant palettes and sweeping perspectives bring life to remote beaches from Scotland to the Mediterranean. His paintings are held in private, public, and corporate collections worldwide. He serves on the councils of the Glasgow Art Club and Paisley Art Institute, with the latter awarding him a diploma in 1998. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts since 2009, he is listed in ‘Scottish Painters 1600 – Present’, in ‘Who’s Who in Art’, and received an Honorary Master’s from the University of the West of Scotland in 2010
