JOE HARGAN PAI PPAI RGI : THE WEE PICTURE
Joe Hargan returns with his tongue-in-cheek ‘Sniffy’ paintings – masterfully colourful paintings featuring the ‘sniffy’ rotund butler within gallery and stately home settings, always surrounded by old masters and an air of the ridiculous. Not only finely executed, these paintings offer humorous and sometimes surreal vignettes of the good life – wine flows and there is always cake, as we are treated to a painting within a painting, a Canaletto or a John Singer Sargent from the end of Joe’s brush. There is always a little more than meets the eye however, and these ‘Sniffy’ paintings are a commentary of sorts, with Joe’s playful juxtapositions of the traditional and the modern raising questions about the value of contemporary art, and his humorous ‘vignettes’ providing us with a visual picture of some of the debates that take place in the strange and wonderful place that is the art world today. WINTER EXHIBITION
We are delighted to present our Winter Exhibition, featuring an Andrew Thompson Showcase alongside an inspiring collection of paintings by both familiar and new artists. Andrew’s work captivates with its meticulous attention to detail and luminous still life compositions — each piece a study in light, precision, and quiet beauty. We are also thrilled to welcome Peter Graham ROI RSW, whose vibrant, expressive paintings we have long admired. Joining us for the first time are Jacqueline Orr RSW RGI PAI and Helen Tabor, Jane MacNeil and Susan Ashworth. You’ll also discover new works from David Smith RSW, Robert MacMillan, and Iona Roberts. Please contact us for more details about any of the artists and for a preview of the images that feature in this rich and varied exhibition.
CONTEMPORARY JAPANESE PRINTS
We’re delighted to be collaborating with the Tolman Collection (Tolman Gallery), Tokyo, Japan’s leading specialist and widely regarded as the country’s largest dealer of contemporary Fine Art Japanese prints. Founded in 1972 by Norman and Mary Tolman, the gallery has built an international reputation for championing living print traditions. Our partnership came about in a wonderfully organic way: first introduced to us by a client and collector, Adam then visited the Tolman Gallery in Japan last year, where he met the team and saw the breadth of their collection firsthand. We subsequently reconnected in London while attending an art fair together, and from there the collaboration naturally took shape around a shared enthusiasm for bringing exceptional contemporary Japanese printmaking to new audiences. We’re thrilled to be exhibiting works by three outstanding Tolman artists—Seiko Kawachi, Ryo Nishimura, and Sayaka Kawamura—whose practices together show the range, technical brilliance, and fresh creative spirit of Japanese printmaking today.
