Sarah Jane Bellwood lives and works in Lancaster. She received a degree in Fine Art at St Martins College, and subsequently taught on their Fine Arts BA and the teacher training courses. Growing up in the Lake District, Sarah’s influences include Beatrix Potter and the 16thCentury Spanish baroque still life painter, Juan Sanchez Cotan.
Sarah explores her subjects – whether collections of objects laid out like entomological specimens or the evening light on the landscape, with exquisite detail. She places great importance on draughtsmanship and composition. The movement of light is key to her work and she explores themes of Life cycles, food chains and humans’ relationship with nature.
Sometimes it is helpful to see one or more paintings in your own home before deciding whether or not to go ahead and make a purchase. We can also offer advice on where to hang one or more paintings throughout your home.
