Into the Garden | Ann Oram RSW Feature

At once cultivated and wild, private and public, everyday and symbolic, throughout history gardens have taken on meanings and roles as varied as their inhabitants and visitors. Artists have long celebrated what they offer both practically and aesthetically – gardens are sites of creative exploration and sanctuary with an ever changing abundance of colour and form. The garden might easily be read as an extension of an artist’s canvas – a living, growing artwork tended to and developed over time, and often feeding back into their painting practice.

This exhibition celebrates the garden and features work by Jacqueline Orr PAI RSW, Jennifer Irvine RSW RGI, Jenny Martin RSW, Kate Bentley RSW, Mhairi McGregor RSW, Lesley McLaren, Lorna Sinclair and Craig Jefferson. We are especially delighted to celebrate Ann Oram RSW’s 70th birthday year with a special feature of her garden paintings. Our exhibition images will go live on the website on Friday the 29th of May but do get in touch if you would like further information about any of the artists taking part or for detail about the Private View.
