Touchstones: places, objects, ideas and influences to which Jack has returned throughout a lifetime of looking and painting. Venice and the sunlit towns of southern Europe; the lilypond and its shifting reflections and of course the other artists who have inspired and accompanied him. With each return – to a place, an object, a memory, an idea – arises a new opportunitity to see things differently and to deepen a connection. After more than fifty years, Jack’s touchstones remain constant, but what he discovers through them continues to evolve.
